On Saturday, October 19th forty amateur fighters will be provided the opportunity to earn a professional mixed martial arts contract at the King of the Cage (KOTC) World Amateur Championships. Terry Trebilcock, KOTC owner and CEO, announced on Tuesday the creation of the 1-day tournament which will award five contracts totaling $250,000.
A unique spin on this live event will be in determining who are the winners. Trebilcock stated on the release, “With the event airing worldwide we also put the fate of the fighters in the hands of the judges and the fans, both in the audience and those watching the live broadcast, who will have the opportunity to pick the most exciting fighters of the night.”
The World Amateur Championships will evolve in 2014 with several qualifying tournaments leading up to the finals in October.
The KOTC World Amateur Championships will take place at the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be televised live worldwide on MAVTV.
