    Great Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book is definitly worth your time if you are a fighter, or if you just want to train like one. It gives you information from every aspect of the fight game.

  • I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Martin Rooney has effectively given us the conditioning road map. The book is of the highest quality, the photographs are excellent, the editorial succint and clear. For anyone who want the conditioning edge, this is the book.

Fighter or not TFW provides a broad range of excercises and drills. The book follows a logical path giving an overview of MMA and then gets into Warrior Anatomy covering warm-ups, training by bodypart (don’t confuse this with traditional body split training) and then goes on to cover specific programs, nutrition and injuries. You can follwo the programs or mix it up and simply focus on the areas that you need to work.

As for the weight training aspect, I’m a RKC Kettlebell instructor and consequently the Kettlebell is my tool of choice. I simpy us kettlebell drill and lifts to replace the conventional weighted drills.

The most valuable aspect of TFW is the way it translates many conventional drills into a MA context.

Most important, once you’ve read the text, looked at the pics…Go Train!

    Amazing MMA Training Book
Training for Warriors: The Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts Workout, is an excellent book for mixed martial artist or those who want to get into shape.

  • Martin has once again out done himself. Training for warriors is a must have. This book is not only for MMA athletes and coaches it is for all professionals in the field of strength and conditioning. The quallity of information is second to none. Having over ten years of experience in the field of strength and conditioning and over twenty years in martial arts I can honestly say you are not going to find a more comprehensive and practical book. I consider this book, as absolutely essential for anybody serious about strength training. I use this book as a resource daily and strongly recommend it.

    advanced fighters only
This is a pretty decent book full of insights but definately not for beginners or at home trainers. This is serious MMA training best to be done in a gym.

    Good series of isolated exercises
For a bunch of isolated exercises — “neck,” “legs” — for MMA, this book is really extensive. But that’s pretty much all it is, and there’s no context, really.

    Awesome!
I think this book is fantastic. I’ve trained for years and find there are many things that I still need to learn and ‘unlearn’.

Training For Warriors? NO! Training For MMA Fighters? Most Definitely!
Don’t let the title fool you, this is not a book about training actual warriors, but it is a book about training MMA competitors. HUGE difference!

    A lot and a little.
This book is filled with Exercises, which is great.
What it lacks is detail. Details about why or how the exercises really work.

good if your looking for exersises to build muscle or endurance
If you are at the very beginning of your training and have never done sports before in your life then this is a good book for you.
