This comes just one week after the Ohio Athletic Commission denied Wes Sims the chance to [...] You know you’re on hard times when an athletic commission won’t let you compete against a fighter who’s dropped three of his last four bouts because the state deems the contest “non-competitive.” Yet that’s exactly what happened to former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Wes Sims, who was booked to throw down with fellow marooned heavyweight Tim [...] The Ohio Athletic Commission has turned down a proposed heavyweight bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia (25-6) and “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ alumnus Wes Sims (22-13-1) at the as-yet-unnanounced “Adrenaline MMA V” event on March 20 in Youngstown, Ohio. Ohio Athletic Commission executive director Bernie Profato ruled the bout “non-competitive” and informed Adrenaline promoter [...] After WEC 43 was moved from Youngstown, Ohio, to the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, one could only wonder if the promotion would attempt to venture back into the “Buckeye State” anytime soon. Nearly three months removed from the abrupt relocation, WEC is set to give it another shot in Ohio at Nationwide Arena [...] After a delay and venue change, WEC 43 finally rolls into San Antonio this weekend for the promotion’s first Saturday night fight card.
