A key lightweight clash between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller will serve as the main event for UFC on FOX 3. UFC officials confirmed late yesterday that the bout will be contested over five rounds. Also announced was a heavyweight bout between Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson who are both coming off of big knockout wins.
As announced previously, UFC on FOX 3 will take place from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Miller-Diaz bout could definitely have title implications in the highly competitive lightweight division. Diaz (15-7) has put on consecutive dominating performances over Takanori Gomi and Donald Cerrone. Miller (21-3) has won eight of his last nine fights which includes a recent first round submission win over Melvin Guillard at UFC on FX 1.
Barry and Johnson will both look to build on the momentum from their last bouts. Barry (7-4) rebounded from back-to-back losses to record a huge first round knockout of Christian Morecraft at UFC on FX 1. Johnson (16-5) made quite an impression his promotional debut with a first round knockout of the tough Joey Beltran at UFC on FOX 2.
