UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre took the opportunity to get in some karate training while touring Japan for UFC 144.
St-Pierre stopped by the Kindergarten Kawai in Saitama to train with the children. St-Pierre was forced to tap out after the kids proceeded to pummel him with their plastic katanas. St-Pierre joked that the kids where hitting him pretty hard and if had been a real sword he would have been dead. He also admitted that he wanted to be a samurai when he was young.
St-Pierre would later visit one of the larger Kyokushin karate schools in Saitama. He chose that school because began his martial arts training by learning Kyokushin karate at age seven while growing up in Canada. St-Pierre was honored to train in Japan saying that karate is more than a sport, its a lifestyle.
