UFC officials announced the addition of two more bouts to their third event on FOX television. In the bantamweight division Johnny Bedford will take on Nick Denis while Dennis Bermudez squares off against Pablo Garza in a featherweight bout.
Bedford (18-9) was a member of Team Miller on Season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter. He advanced to the semifinals where he lost to eventual winner John Dodson. Beford would compete on the show’s finale where he dominated Louis Gaudinot before finishing the fight with a third round technical knockout. Denis (11-2) will be making his second appearance with the UFC. He debuted in impressive fashion by knocking out Joseph Sandoval with standing elbows in just 22 seconds at UFC on FX 1.
Like Beford, Bermudez (7-3) was also a member of Team Miller on TUF 14. He advanced to the featherweight finals where he was defeated by Diego Brandao. Bermudez was awarded a $40K “Fight of the Night” bonus for the bout. Garza is a veteran of the WEC and TUF 12 who has gone 2-1 inside the Octagon. He will look to rebound from a loss to Dustin Poirier in November 2011. Garza wins have come in dynamic fashion with a flying knee knockout of Fredson Paixao and a flying triangle choke of Yves Jabouin.
UFC on FOX 3 taks place on May 5th from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Headlining the event is a lightweight clash between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
